Hardwood Floor installation Process
Wilson Hardwood Floor Specialist installs several types of wood floor products, including finished and unfinished hardwood floors, solid and engineered wood flooring and Luxury Vinyl Planks. We provide guidance to our customers in selecting the best flooring application for their home. Even though we have flooring samples our customers can choose from, we also work directly with several premier flooring suppliers in the Charlotte NC area who have conveniently located showrooms our customers can visit to view a larger selection of flooring options. We also invite our customers to select their own hardwood floors, but recommend that a good quality wood flooring material be selected for the best results.
The first step to get new wood flooring installed at your home or business is to to contact Wilson Hardwood Floor Specialist to request a free in home estimate. The free estimate will allow one of our specialists to determine the scope of work, the best wood flooring installation method for your specific application, the amount of material required to perform the work, and the man hour needed to complete your flooring project. Once the scope of work has been determined, Wilson Hardwood Floor Specialist will provide you with a quote within 24 hours. Upon your acceptance of our estimate, the work will usually start within seven business days.
Once the wood flooring material has been selected, it will be delivered to your home a few days before the installation is scheduled so the planks have enough time to acclimate to the interior temperature of your home.
The installation process often times starts with removing your existing floors. If the sub-floor is in bad condition and in needs of repairs or replacement, you will be notified immediately. Wilson Hardwood Floor Specialist repairs and replaces sub floors for an additional charge.
Before your new flooring is installed, the area will need to be cleared out so it is empty and ready for the work to start. Our installers can, at your request and for an additional fee, remove your furniture from the work area(s) and move them back once the work is complete.
When your new wood floors are being installed, sanding and finishing may be required if the wood planks are unfinished. If sanding is needed, our wood flooring specialist will cover walls and cabinetry to shield them from the wood dust produced during sanding. We do use dustless sanders, but a small amount of dust is usually produced from the process. If you have allergies and are sensitive to dust particles, we recommend you step outside your home while sanding is taking place.
Depending on the size of your flooring project, the work could take one day to over a week to complete. During the wood floor installation process, our installers will be in contact with you daily to provide updates on work progress.
Once the work is completed, the workspace will be cleaned. The manager assigned to your flooring project will do a final walk-through with you to make sure you are completely satisfied with the work, make corrections as needed and will tell you how to care for your newly installed hardwood floors.
